In this subject Pre-service Teachers (PSTs) develop and critically evaluate the knowledge, skills and competencies to teachscience, design and technologies in primary schools. PSTs explore innovative pedagogies and core conceptual understandings related to teaching and learning in the areas of science, design and technologies PSTs investigate high quality curriculum resources availablefor teaching, as well as develop an awareness of the general capabilities and structureof the Australian Science Curriculum, and the Design and TechnologiesCurriculum as a basis for state referenced curriculum documents. Digital anddesign technology skills associated with accessing, processing andcommunicating in a blended learning environment are embedded within the subjectand utilized in activities and assessment tasks.

01. Demonstrate an understanding of the content knowledge, skills and resources required to plan for effective science teaching and learning through a study of the Australian science curriculum, the three interrelated strands of science, its general capabilities and links to appropriate state based curriculum documents.

Activities:
Through online modules and interactive asynchronous and synchronous forums: - Students will gain first-hand experience with the relevant state based curriculum documents, including the structure of the Australian science curriculum. Quality resources will be a focus and this will incorporate not only the guidance recommended from curriculum documents, but going beyond this to reputable texts, websites, education providers and articles.

02. Demonstrate an understanding of the content knowledge, skills and resources required to plan for effective technology teaching and learning through a study of the Australian Technology curriculum, the strands of knowledge and understanding, the processes and production skills, its general capabilities and links to appropriate state based curriculum documents.

Through online modules and interactive asynchronous and synchronous forums: - Students will gain first-hand experience with the relevant state based curriculum documents, including the structure of the Australian science curriculum. Quality resources will be a focus and this will incorporate not only the guidance recommended from curriculum documents, but going beyond this to reputable texts, websites, education providers and articles.

03. Identify and apply contemporary pedagogical and multidisciplinary approaches, for planning and teaching science, design and technologies.

04. Investigate ways to integrate science, design and technologies to create a planned unit of work incorporating proposed activities, resources required and planning for assessment.

05. Develop an interactive, online science and technology resource representing accurate understandings of all strands of both the Australian Primary Science Curriculum and the Australian Technology curriculum for future practice and implementation.
