This practicum unit takes place in the Psychology Clinic in the School of Psychological Science. Students are introduced to clinical practice by undertaking practice in test administration and interpretation. Case observation, including CBT based therapy and specific neuropsychology case observation, allows modelling of clinical skills.

01. Developed ability to select and administer neuropsychological tests taking into account issues of validity & reliability, and contextual issues related to development and aging, and cultural diversity.
- Activities:
- Assessment of professional competency in selection and administration of intelligence tests (adult & child), tests of memory and learning, and other domains of neuropsychological performance.
02. Developed ability to write case notes and neuropsychological assessment reports that are well structured, valid and appropriate for different referral agencies or contexts.
- Activities:
- Participation in tutorials and live case observations and assessment of capacity to write succinct, valid and well organised case notes and neuropsychological reports.
03. Skills and capabilities for the assessment, differential diagnosis, case conceptualisation and management of common neuropsychological disorders and recovery across the life span.
- Activities:
- Participation in weekly case analysis discussions
04. Practices in accordance with professional management standards and guidelines and the regulating bodies code of ethics.
- Activities:
- Completion of all client-related documentation and placement paperwork in a timely manner.
05. Demonstrated readiness for a neuropsychological placement.
- Activities:
- Demonstrated entry-level knowledge base and clinical neuropsychological assessment, interpretation and report writing skills for undertaking a clinical neuropsychological placement.
06. Developed ability to score and interpret the results of neuropsychological assessments.
- Activities:
- Participation in tutorials and live case observations and assessment of scoring and interpretation of administered assessments.
