This subject combines both public health and paramedic components of the course to gain the knowledge and skills essential for practice as an extended care practitioner. There will be enhancement of assessment skills, knowledge, and planning and referral systems. The student will gain insight into the broader concepts and the resources available to better enhance health outcomes for clients and their communities.

One 2.0 hours lecture/workshop per week on any day including weekend during the day from week 30 to week 35 and delivered via online.
"online education, as students will be concurrently on placement shifts for the first half of the semester."

Laboratory ClassWeek: 36 - 42
Two 3.0 hours laboratory class per week on weekdays during the day from week 36 to week 42 and delivered via face-to-face.
"students will have 2 x 3hr sim lab classes each week. Students will be divided into two groups of 20 students, and will attend either the morning or afternoon class depending on allocation. I.E morning class to run from 0900 to 1200 and afternoon class from 1300 to 1600hrs two days per week. There are no classes scheduled for week 43 as they have a major simulation event that week in a different subject"

Placement - Off SiteWeek: 44 - 50
Five 10.0 hours placement - off site other recurrence on any day including weekend during the day from week 44 to week 50 and delivered via distance education.
"clinical placement to be organised in the area of Primary Care. While all attempts will be made to obtain shifts prior to week 50, placement may be offered outside of standard semester dates."
