Subject outline
This subject extends students' understanding of the concepts underlying health information management and health informatics. The focus is on both administrative and clinical information systems, including system specification issues and technical considerations for electronic health information systems. Case studies and enquiries are used to apply critical theories to applications. There is an introduction to protocol-based and clinical-decision support systems. Discussions, research and student presentations enable students to create a model for designing information systems to support the provision of quality care.

03. Describe the scope and functions of systems for the capture, use, and reporting of health administrative information applied to support the operations and obligations of the business, and patient/client care.

- Recorded lectures, guided discussion of comparative systems in a range of simulated hospital and healthcare agency Health Information Service and related environments, students will work in teams to complete workshop activities and a team assignment, audio-visual recordings, guided readings and formative quiz.
