Subject outline

In this subject students investigate real life tasks and challenges and use design and technology construction in order to create a solution. Working with the AusVELS Interdisciplinary Strand 'Design, Creativity and Technology' students have the opportunity to plan a suitable application of the task to school based learning, through the development of a linked series of Design Briefs (based around Greeting Card, Business Card and Brochure for use in education). Students are also required to Design and Publish a series of linked Design Briefs relating to ICT demonstrating one or more of the following: Materials/ Information/Systems together with Reflection based on the Process. Topics covered in this subject include design skills, understanding good design, design processes, evaluating products in terms of design and utility, teaching design and technology and evaluating OH&S issues in schools.
