About the counselling service
Counselling is a confidential process that is built on trust. The only time that confidentiality is waived is where there is a risk of harm to you or another, or we are required by law to disclose information.
Privacy statement: La Trobe University respects the privacy of your personal information. We collect personal information about you to register and identify you for counselling services. We also maintain confidential records of counselling sessions to monitor and facilitate your counselling and progress. Access, collection and storage of your personal information is in accordance with the Health Records Act 2001. We treat the information we receive from you with confidentiality and respect and will only disclose your information with your consent or where it is required or authorised by law. You may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you subject to any exemptions in relevant laws, by contacting the privacy officer.
