ALLY network

The ALLY Network is designed to help the La Trobe community better understand the lived experience of LGBTIQ staff and students. This will help create safer and more inclusive campuses where harassment and discrimination have no place. Celebrating and supporting our diverse communities is about shared respect and inclusive thinking.

ALLY training

Would you like to assist staff and students feel more included and welcome at La Trobe? Equity and Diversity in collaboration with the Australian Research Centre in Sex Health & Society has developed the ALLY Program to create a more diverse and inclusive culture and greater visibility as well as awareness of the issues facing gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) students and staff.

Training will cover the following:

  • Understanding commonly used terms
  • Experiences of young people from the GLBTI community
  • Recognising and responding to homophobia
  • Creating an inclusive culture and providing support
  • Valuing and celebrating GLBTI people and culture

We are asking staff and students from across the organisation join the program as an ALLY. On completing the training you can then choose if you want to be part of the ALLY network and you will be able to offer information, referrals and support to GLBTI students and staff.
