In this subject the focus is to provide students with a theoretical and practical understanding of program and management issues, in organisations and program design, as an organised response to social problems. Students will develop skills in program development and design, implementation, program resourcing/budgeting and evaluation.

01. Appraise organisational context and its influence on program design.

Activities:
Drawing on information provided in podcasts, readings and video clips of interviews from the field, students will participate in discussion of examples drawn from placement experience. Students will commence building an eportfolio after this disucssion and use this to collect learning assets and reflect on their learning throughout the subject.

02. Apply an evidence-based approach to program design and evaluation.

Activities:
Drawing on information provided in readings, podcasts, and open access material students will discuss approaches and complete groupwork by applying aspects of the program logic model. Students will reflect on their learning in the eportfolio.

03. Analyse critically the social and political contexts of program design.

Activities:
Through reading, podcasts and video clips of interviews from the field students will gain information to draw on during group discussion of the social and political processess evident in an identified scenario. Students will reflect on their learning in the eportfolio.

04. Critically analyse critically relevant theoretical and empirical literature to construct problem analyses and theory of change in relation to identified social issues.

Activities:
Informed by literature searching, reading and open access materials, students will use peer teaching and collaboration to inform analysis and identify theory relevant to a specified social issue. Students will reflect on their learning in online discussion and the eportfolio.

05. Design program objectives and integrated evaluation strategies.

Activities:
In groupwork students will complete activites focussed on elements of program design to develop skill in applying knowledge gained from readings, podcasts and open access materials. Students will draw on their eportfolios to make connections with learning across the subject.

06. Analyse data to generate and evaluate a complex program budget

Activities:
Informed by reading, podcasts, open access material and video clips of interviews from the field studenhts will complete groupwork focussed on aspects of program budgetting. Students will use the eportfolio to collect learning assets and reflect on their learning.
