Subject outline

In this subject students learn how to use audio and vision through the context of the podcast. Topics covered will include how sound and vision can help tell a story, and how to make the sounds and visuals blend withwords. Students will learn the basics of audio and visuals, how to capture them and edit them. They will also learn how to create, develop and tell a story in the context of a podcast, including how to to write to the audio and visuals and develop and practice presenting skills to enable the production of compelling podcasts. Students will be expected to critically assess podcasts, edit podcasts, and finally, use their skills to create their own podcasts.

Special conditions This subject is compulsory for students enrolled in the Journalism, Media Industries and Sport Journalism majors of the Bachelor of Media and Communication. It is recommended that students enrolled in Journalism and Media Industries undertake the subject in Semester One (unless with coordinator approval to enrol in Semester Two). It is recommended that students enrolled in Sport Journalism undertake the subject in Semester Two (unless with coordinator approval to enrol in Semester One).
