Subject outline
In HUS2NGP, the focus is on you and your future as an educated professional person. We connect your studies and work-life experience to your career aspirations. The subject helps you reflect on the career potential of both your academic skills and intellectual interests. We explore ways of applying learning in your preferred discipline to the world of professions and careers, as distinct from mere paid work. In and out of class, you undertake research investigating both what it means to learn in your preferred discipline, and the so-called soft skills and employability capabilities integral to graduate careers. Using the La Trobe career dashboard, you will explore careers and vocations as you consider your identity as an educated person engaging with changing work practices and contexts. You script and produce a Minute-Me podcast pitching yourself. You also create a multimedia project showcasing you and your skills and knowledge gained in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The skills and experiences offered in this subject help you build a foundation for a fulfilling professional life.

Special conditions This subject is the second-year degree-core subject in the Bachelor of Arts, or in any combined degree including a Bachelor of Arts. All Bachelor of Arts students must pass this subject. In order to enrol in this degree core subject, students must first have completed the 15-credit-point first-year core subject in the Bachelor of Arts, HUS1FAS.
