EDU4TAR

2018

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject we provide fourth year education students with a firm grounding in the threshold knowledge required to read and understand research and to use research in the classroom to inform practice. The focus is on the pre-service teachers' skill development in the key areas of critical reading of research and an introduction to practitioner research. They develop understandings about the theories and practice associated with teachers as researchers and the role of research in educational practice. The subject is structured around performance activities that enable pre-service teachers to make links between theoretical contexts and practical applications. ICT skills associated with accessing, processing and communicating in a blended learning environment are embedded within the course and utilised in assessment tasks.
