Subject outline

In this subject, students prepare to undertake a practice-based placement, either in a relevant external organisation or agency, or internally at La Trobe University where participants will conduct approved tasks designed to achieve specific learning objectives relating to discipline specific practice. The aim of the subject is to give students an opportunity to consolidate knowledge gained and skills developed in years 1 and 2 of the course. Students will further develop their knowledge of frameworks and theories relevant to their major, including how these translate to the field. Important workplace skills and expectations are covered to prepare students for their field placement in Semester 2 (PHE3PFP). Students will gain familiarity with practical concerns of a work environment and gain a broad perspective about potential employment possibilities.

Prerequisites Must be enrolled in course HBHS (in either the Public Health or Rehabilitation Counselling majors) and must have passed 240 credit points.
