In this subject students will develop physiotherapy skills in assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation and progression of evidence-based treatment relevant to adults and children with common respiratory and cardiac conditions or following abdominal, thoracic or cardiac surgery or chest trauma in a variety of healthcare settings.

Prerequisites Must have passed HBS3PAP, HBS3AUN or HBS3ANP, PTY3EHW, PTY3STM and be enrolled in one of the following courses: HZHSPP, HZHSPB - Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice. OR Admission into HMPYP, HMPYPB - Master of Physiotherapy Practice.

01. You will be able to complete and medico-legally document a safe, sensitive and case-specific assesment relevant to common cardiorespiratory problems, and in a variety of healthcare settings.

02. You will be able to perform a case sensitive analysis and interpretation of asssesment findings relevant to common respiratory and cardiac conditions or following abdominal, thoracic or cardiac surgery to produce a prioritised problem list.

03. You will be able to devise and justify an interprofessional and evidence based treatment that can be safely applied and is relevant to common respiratory and cardiac conditions or following abdominal, thoracic or cardiac surgery.

04. You will be able to safely perform and medico-legally document a range of commonly used manual and mechanical physiotherapy techniques relevant to common cardiorespiratory problems and in accordance with the treatment plan.

05. You will provide clear case sensitive instructions and demonstration relevant to self- management of common cardiorespiratory conditions.
