Subject outline

In this subject, students are introduced to a range of theories, methods and topics in social psychology. Social psychology is the scientific attempt to understand and explain how the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of other human beings. The topics to be covered in this unit include attitudes, self and identity, person perception and social cognition, interpersonal attraction, social influence, prejudice, intergroup relations, and prosocial and antisocial behaviour.

01. Explain and apply key concepts of social psychology to describing and interpreting social psychological phenomena.

Activities:
Formative: Tutorial Class Exercises Formative and Summative: Students will be assessed in a Quiz (10% of total mark); the feedback on the Quiz will be used to improve their knowledge, and the outcome will be evaluated in the Laboratory Report (40% of total mark) Summative: Examination
