Subject outline
This subject aims to introduce disciplinary issues & research methods. Initially, students work together to extend research skills, improve their citation & annotation skills, address ethical questions & formulate work methods. Students then take either a creative or theoretical pathway. Theoretical thesis: students undertake further research to develop their topic into a significant & feasible research question & project. Creative work: explore creative practice as research methodologies, with the aim of understanding specificity of creative arts practical research & its articulation with theoretical research. It introduces different methods of exegetical writing and prepares students for the practice based thesis. The subject is essential for interdisciplinary creative arts practice & is available to students across the Bachelor of Creative Arts, Cinema Studies & Media Studies Honours. It is compulsory for all Media: screen+sound or Cinema Studies or Media Studies Honours students.
