Subject outline

In this subject students will develop advanced skills in the application of learning and educational theories within the context of food and nutrition education. Students will analyse current theories of health education, health promotion, health literacy, health advocacy, community development and food and nutrition policy and clearly articulate where and how each are appropriately applied in successful food, health and nutrition programs. Students will assess need, plan, implement and evaluate a food and nutrition education session, including critiquing written food and nutrition education material. Finally students will be able to assess need, plan, implement and evaluate a relevant community food and nutrition program.

Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in one of: HMDP - Master of Dietetics Practice, HZHSDP - Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Dietetic Practice or HZNDP - Bachelor of Applied Science/Master of Dietetic Practice and must pass DTN4ECN or DTN4CPA. All other students must pass DTN4ECN or DTN4CPA and obtain subject coordinator approval.
