This subject addresses La Trobe's Global Citizenship Essential. Global Citizenship is about learning to live in an interconnected world, including the social, environmental, political and economic challenges this brings.

Subject outline

Students explore the history and role of the humanities, Australian and global citizenship education, social studies, social education and Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) in school programs. They develop the ability to plan, implement and evaluate humanities and citizenship education programs, especially for primary education. Students develop knowledge and appreciation of Australian history, culture and society, particularly as they affect contemporary social issues and their role as humanities and citizenship educators. This subject includes a Compulsory Professional Requirement of the 15-day supervised Professional Experience 2B.
