Subject outline

This subject provides students with theory, concepts, experiences that will increase their competency of group counselling. Students will also have opportunity to attend to personal, interpersonal, group dynamic issues and to monitor changes in thought, feeling, behaviour. Topics will also cover theory and procedures, research, ethical and professional issues, assessment, intervention. Students will engage in lectures, readings, weekly reflections, an in-class experiential training group as participants and co-leaders, and provide an in-depth proposal and presentation for a group. The processes involved should provide students with a foundation for group leadership and intra/interpersonal counselling skills. Personal material is always involved.
