Subject outline

In this subject students examine the statutory bases of planning landuse and development control, in particular relevant Acts and related legislation. Topics covered include: planning as a process and the limitations of landuse and development controls; the principles of judicial review of administrative action; scheme amendment; permit applications and applications for review; enforcement; and compensation for land acquisition and the impact of planning decisions. In this subject the focus is on the formulation and implementation of planning policies and development controls on land.
