Subject outline

Students commence a project that takes the equivalent of six months of continuous work under the supervision of a member of staff. The project is completed and written up as a thesis when the student completes the unit PHY5THB. All students are required to present a seminar outlining the proposed project at a time to be determined by the physics postgraduate coordinator. A list of prospective thesis topics and supervisors is available from the Department of Physics postgraduate co-ordinator.

Prerequisites Current enrolment in the M.Sci.Phys.Sci. program and an invitation to join the research stream. Students who achieve an average of 65% in all their subjects in the first year of the course and who demonstrate an aptitude for research and experimentation may be invited to join the research stream.
