Subject outline

In this subject students will use an ecological framework to examine the relationship between the early years of development including new understanding in brain development and health throughout the life-cycle. The links between economic inequality and child health and the promotion of optimum development of young children through social justice strategies, prevention and early intervention programs will be explored within a primary health care framework. Approaches to influencing parenting, professional practice and government policy are examined. Students further develop health, growth and developmental assessment skills with children 0-5 years in community settings.
