Subject outline
Students in this unit will be introduced to the theory and practice of advocacy, which enables students to understand the nature and the significance of advocacy in the adversary system, the ethics of advocacy and the disciplines and techniques required of advocates for effective presentation of cases in court. Students are introduced to the skills required in preparation and analysis. They also learn about the various skills involved in opening addresses, leading of evidence, cross examination and presentation of argument. Communication skills, which are an essential part of advocacy as the art of persuasion, also form an important part of this unit.
