Subject outline
In this subject students examine selected legal and regulatory issues from use of the internet as a medium to conduct business. Emphasis will be placed on consumer protection of the electronic customer and the liability of internet service providers and other on-line providers. Topics will include: electronic contracts and trade practices, electronic payments systems such as digital cash, data protection, privacy, security, intellectual property and domain names. In addition to providing an introduction to legal issues, students will evaluate regulatory strategies for the governance of cyberspace from both national and international perspectives
