Introduction to Sports Commentary introduces students to the fundamental requirements of a sports commentator. The subject will focus mainly on television and radio commentary but students will also study other forms such as the live blog and print based commentary. At the successful completion of this subject, students will appreciate the history of sports commentary in Australia, the different techniques and styles commentators employ and the role of the sports commentator in various contexts such as commercial; entertainment; history (an accurate record); and the role commentary has in the social impact of sport in Australian contemporary society.
