Subject outline

In this subject, as an introduction to effective communication, students will interact and communicate whist discussing essential professional practice issues, in particular those relating to ethics, funding and health promotion, multicultural issues, employment and team work. Following this, the workshops will provide students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the principles of effective verbal and non-verbal communication, with particular reference to the ability to present information clearly to groups. Implicit in this aim is that students will learn, through experiential workshops, how to enhance their own communication skills. They will also learn how to observe and comment on the communication skills of those with whom they interact.
