Subject outline

In this unit students will focus on the properties of signals and noise, Fourier analysis, linear systems and lossless transmission, linear and exponential modulation techniques, typical communications systems, such as radio broadcasting, receivers. Other topics include pulse code modulation, time division multiplexing and frequency division multiplexing. Also included is transmission line theory including distributed circuit analysis, characteristic impedance and sinusoidal waves on transmission lines.
