Subject outline

In this subject students examine the complexity of teaching in contemporary Australian schooling contexts. Students develop a broad understanding of the context at national level in which school based education takes place. Students analyse and apply knowledge of recent advances and contemporary perspectives within the field of education with a particular focus on student wellbeing and student management. Students are required to demonstrate an understanding of the legal and ethical framework expected of all teachers and the industrial landscape in which teaching takes place. They are required to demonstrate independent and critical thinking and the ability to describe, understand, analyse, evaluate and apply a range of perspectives influencing classroom teaching and learning.
