Subject outline

In this subject, students will be introduced to the cellular basis of life, cell structure, inclusions, membranes, junctions, cells working as communities, epithelial and connective tissues, nervous and muscular tissues and selected organs - skin, nerves, thyroid, blood vessels, trachea, lung and gut. Anatomy component: introduction to the body cavities and their major organs. Principles of anatomy will be introduced and applied to the anatomy of the head and neck relevant for dentistry. Lectures are supported by practical classes, which will include the examination of appropriate cadaver and radiographic materials and computer aided learning activities.
