Subject outline

This subject is designed for students without knowledge of the Japanese language. It aims to give an introduction to Japanese manga and anime, in particular to the characteristics of the language in the creation of this particular artistic/popular medium. Students will be provided with the opportunity to analyse the most famous works and to debate issues such as Japanese society, culture and history. Students will also be given the task to analyse the local and global topics in respect to their reception.
