Regional focus
Ensuring a consistent and equitable approach to all La Trobe University students, regardless of their location, is central to the student engagement strategy.
Each campus has its own identity and unique set of needs. The Student Engagement Team works in collaboration with other university departments to provide tailor-made campus appropriate schemes including:
- Peer Mentoring
- Leadership Programs
- Orientation Activities
- Transition Programs
- Student Leader Training
Student engagement also works to ensure that the types of information provided to students to help them become informed members of the La Trobe community is appropriate and represents their place of study.
Regionally, student voice is promoted through the campus contributions to the monthly student newsletter, La News and the delivery of Focus Groups on a range of topics. Feedback of regional student experience is also sought through a number of surveys throughout the academic year.
La Trobe’s Regional Student Engagement Officer, Jon Neal, is employed to work across all regional campuses. To find out more about the regional focus of student engagement, or to get more involved, you can contact Jon on j.neal@latrobe.edu.au or (03) 5444 7794.
