Alcohol and Other Drugs

It’s easy some times to think that everybody at university is using alcohol in this dangerous way but 67% of La Trobe students who responded to the university’s 2010 survey about their use of and attitudes to alcohol and other drugs said that they drank three or less drinks a week.  68% of this group said they averaged Credit or above in their studies so some of their motivation for drinking less is clear.

By contrast students who said they had drunk five or more standard drinks at a sitting reported a number of ways that this had harmed them.  For example 57% said they had done something they regretted, 38% had got into a fight and 41% had been criticised by a friend.

If you are curious about how your drinking compares to others in Australia or you would like to know what sort of impacts your patterns of drinking have on you, La Trobe’s anonymous E-Check can tell you.
