Getting your timetable

computer-study Each Faculty does timetabling differently. Usually, tutorials and labs aren't available for selection until Orientation Week (depending on your course), so don't stress if you're only seeing lectures.

Assistance and advice will be available during Orientation Week. Check out the Orientation Program to find out when your faculty is holding a timetabling session.

To view individual unit class timetables, visit the Timetable website. This is a good way of planning out what's going to work best for you when it comes to selecting classes. Please also consult your faculty section below to find out how to get your class timetable.

Business, Economics & Law

A full-time enrolment is normally 120 credit points (or eight subjects) per year. Each Faculty of Business, Economics and Law course has a grid available that will help you track your progress and which subjects are required throughout your degree. Course grids are available online here or you can pick up a hard copy from the Faculty Student Services Office.

Information on lecture and tutorial/seminar times can be accessed here.

All you need to do is enter the subject code and the campus. Once you are enrolled you are automatically in your lectures as the times advertised through the above site.

Tutorials are sometimes called ‘Seminars’. These are usually larger interactive classes. You will need to select your tutorial/seminar times in the first week of semester. This is done through OASIS. It is important that you select tutorials (or seminars) that do not clash with any of your lectures or other tutorials.

If you need further help with timetabling, you can get assistance at the Timetable Drop-in sessions run during Orientation. You may also like to talk to your Connect Mentor about timetabling tips.

Humanities & Social Sciences

For a demonstration on enrolling in your tutorials and to learn more about how the timetable system works, come along to the Getting Ready to Study - Timetables and LMS session during Orientation Week.

Science, Technology & Engineering

A full-time enrolment is normally 120 credit points (or eight subjects) per year. Each Faculty of Science, Technology & Engineering course has a Course Map available that will help you track your progress and which subjects are required (Core) and which can be chosen as electives throughout your degree. You were mailed a copy of your Course Map in your Enrolment.

Please read this information on lecture and tutorial/laboratory times.

All you need to do is enter the subject code and the campus. Once you are enrolled you are automatically in your lectures as the times advertised through the above site.

On the Melbourne campus, students self-allocate to practical classes and tutorial sessions using WebTimetabler. It is best to write out your lecture times first (these can be found in Timetables) and then sign up for your labs and tutes.

Use your student number to login and follow the instructions. When a session is full it will no longer be displayed. Download the WebTimetabler instructions document. [PDF 748KB].

Note: Some subjects do not release the allocation up before week one of semester (eg. Psychology).

Education

Bendigo Campus

Education Bendigo

The Bachelor of Education, the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Education, and the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education share a core first year.

Timetabling information will be provided at your course welcome sessions during orientation week. You will be allocated a class (POD) that you will be in for all classes and a timetable. This enables you to get to know a small group of students within the larger first year cohort. Please read this timetable carefully – it has been prepared to provide all students with a spread of classes across the week and each day.

Classes are not normally scheduled for first year students on Monday and Friday as these days are used for practicum. If you need to change your allocated class you will need to speak to the first year course administrator in Orientation Week once you have received your timetable.

Outdoor and Environmental Education

The Bachelor of Outdoor Education, the Bachelor of Outdoor Environmental Education, the Bachelor Outdoor Recreation Education, the Bachelor of Physical and Outdoor Education, the Bachelor of Nature Tourism, and the Bachelor of Natural Resource Education.

Melbourne Campus

The Bachelor of Teaching (Primary), the Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary), and the Bachelor of Outreach and Community Education.

All undergraduate Education students at the Bundoora campus enrol into their tutorials/seminars via the OASIS tutorial allocation system. You will need your La Trobe Username and Password to access this system.

You should log onto OASIS and select the tutorial/seminar for each of your subjects. (Please be aware that tutorials/seminars fill up quickly so if you have limited time you should access the system early to avoid disappointment).

If you are studying subjects from other Faculties that use OASIS you should be able to select tutorials for those subjects as well.  Please note that different Departments open their OASIS allocation system at different times – please check with the relevant department to make sure that you do not miss the opening time.
