Hello, my name is Paul Johnson. I’m the Vice Chancellor of La Trobe University. Vice Chancellor is the odd term that universities use for the Chief Executive Officer.
On behalf of the university and all La Trobe University staff, I’d like to welcome you to what I hope will be a really exciting and challenging few years with us.
University is a place to build new friendships, meet new people from all walks of life. Now of course, starting university can be daunting and I hope you’ll take advantage of the support services and the facilities available to you on your campus. Getting involved in student clubs and societies, and mentoring or leadership programs is a way to build your personal and professional networks.
Over the past several years, the University has been reviewing its curriculum and teaching. We have been talking with students to work out how to ensure the student experience is fulfilling , an experience that’s able to provide you with the foundation for a successful career and I hope a passion for life-long learning.
La Trobe University has come along way since it’s beginnings in 1967, and now supports over 30,000 students and 2,000 staff across 5 campuses in Melbourne and across northern Victoria, as well as sites overseas. No matter which campus you are studying on, I hope you’ll feel part of the La Trobe community and that you will enjoy a successful and rewarding experience with us.
