VISION IMPAIRMENT AND AUSLAN INFORMATION

CONNECT MENTOR PROGRAM

The Connect Mentor Program is a peer support program designed to assist you with your early transition to La Trobe University.

Prior to Orientation you will be assigned to a Mentor Group of between 10 to 20 students and allocated a Connect Mentor who studies the same course or is in the same faculty as you. Connect Mentors are students in second year or above who have been carefully selected and trained to provide you with support in your transition to university.

Your Mentor will take you on a tour of the campus with other students with whom you will be studying. Throughout the first six weeks of the semester your mentor will maintain regular contact with you and meet you for a coffee so you can ask questions or have a chat with other members of the group about how you are settling in.

Connect Mentors can offer firsthand knowledge of the student experience at La Trobe. They can point you in the right direction to the appropriate services, resources and other avenues of support.

TIP – Connect Mentors will be wearing colour coded t-shirts according to their faculty, so check the list on the right and look for people wearing t-shirts in your faculty colour on the day.
