CONNECT MENTOR PROGRAM

The Connect Mentor Program is a peer support program designed to assist you with your early transition to La Trobe University. Prior to Orientation Week you will be assigned to a Mentor Group of between 10 to 20 students and allocated a Connect Mentor who studies the same course or is in the same faculty as you. Connect Mentors are students in second year or above who have been carefully selected and trained to provide you with support in your transition to university.

You will meet your Connect Mentor on the Wednesday of Orientation Week. Your Mentor will take you on a tour of the campus with other students with whom you will be studying. Throughout the first six weeks of the semester your Mentor will maintain regular contact with you and meet you for a coffee so you can ask questions or have a chat with other members of the group about how you are settling in.

Connect Mentors are not academic advisors, but can offer firsthand knowledge of the student experience at La Trobe. They can point you in the right direction to the appropriate services, resources and other avenues of support.

Your Connect Mentor will contact you via your student email prior to Orientation Week to give you information on where to meet them. (Refer to the box on the inside cover of this booklet about how to access your student email.) If you do not hear from your Mentor before Orientation just come along to the Welcome at the Hanger and go to your Faculty table. Staff there will be able to assist you.
