Bendigo Pre-departure Checklist
We recommend you plan to arrive in Australia at least a few days before the Welcome and Orientation program commences. This allows sufficient time to register your arrival with the International Office and to search for and/or settle into your accommodation, before activities begin.
Have you returned the following forms?
- Airport Reception Advice Form
- Application for On-Campus Accommodation (If you require on-campus accommodation)
What to bring with you:
- Valid passport containing a current student visa
- Letter of Offer and acceptance form from La Trobe University
- Receipts for any payments made to the University
- Letter of award of scholarship (if applicable)
- Other official identification eg drivers licence national ID card, etc
- Any medical records (particularly of immunisations) necessary medication/prescriptions
- Australian currency for when you first arrive
- A jacket or jumper (sweater) packed in your hand luggage in case it is cold
Before you leave home, why not:
- Listen to Australian radio eg. via the Internet or Radio Australia
- Read Australian books, newspapers, magazines (many available online as well as hard copy) to keep up to date on current affairs
- Explore publications and websites on Australian society and culture
- Introduce yourself to Australian educational culture via publications such as B Ballard and J Clanchy's Studying in Australia, published by Longman Cheshire, Melbourne, 1988
