How do I apply for Advanced Standing (credit)?

If you have been approved for Advanced Standing (credit) for previous studies, you will have received a letter from your faculty with your ‘Letter of Offer’.

If you did not request an assessment for Advanced Standing with your application to study but now wish to apply, you need to make an appointment with your relevant faculty adviser no later than the first two weeks of your course commencement date.

Please note: if changes are made to the duration of your course (e.g. if you are granted Advanced Standing after your student visa has been granted) the University is obliged to notify the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Get more details about advanced standing.

What if I need more information about my course?

If you have questions about your course that cannot wait until enrolment day you can contact your faculty to speak to a course adviser or contact La Trobe International.

How do I change my course?

Before you have enrolled:

If you have not already enrolled you will need to complete a ‘Request for a Change of Course Preference’ form, available from the La Trobe International office. Please note: not all applications for a change of preference are approved.

After you have enrolled:

If you have already enrolled, you will need to complete an ‘Application for Course Transfer’ form, available from the La Trobe International office. Please note: not all applications for a course transfer are approved.

What if I am going to arrive after enrolment?

You need to apply for an extension if you are going to arrive later than the first day of classes. To do this you should contact your agent (or contact La Trobe International if you have not used an agent) to see if you are eligible.

Please note: not all applications for extensions are approved. No extensions are available for courses offered by the Graduate School of Management.

What if I enrol, then change my mind about studying?

Before you make the final decision to discontinue your course enrolment, you should discuss your decision with a course adviser from your faculty or staff from the Student Life (International Student Support Services). Contact La Trobe International for more information.
