Enrolling in the accredited subject: Academic skills for tertiary study

The focus in this subject is on the process of analysis and critical thinking and on developing skills essential to academic success. Specific areas of study include: researching, planning, structuring and writing essays; referencing and avoiding plagiarism; oral presentations; reading efficiently, critical analysis and argument analysis; note-taking; exam preparation.
This subject comprises four hours of contact each week of semester.  This includes 1 lecture, 1 tutorial and 1 workshop ( of 2 hours).  The course has 15 credit points toward a degree and may be taken as an elective or as a stand- alone subject.
