Downloading and installing NVivo

Before you download the latest version:

  1. Uninstall the previous version.
  2. You must agree to the end user License Agreement by selecting ACCEPT:

Installing NVivo

Windows

  1. Download the latest version by accepting the Staff License Agreement or the Student License Agreement and selecting the required download i.e. 32-bit or 64-bit.
  2. Click Download.
  3. Click Save As.
  4. Navigate to the location where you saved the installer and extract the contents of the zip file.
  5. Open the NVivo11-xXX folder and run NVivo11.xXX.exe.
  6. If prompted by User Account Control click Yes.
  7. Click Install.
  8. Complete the install using the default installation options.
  9. Run NVivo.
  10. Navigate to the location where you extracted the installation files and open License Number.txt.
  11. Enter the NVivo license key from the text file and click OK.
  12. Enter the required information and click Activate.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Enter your name and initials and click OK.
  15. NVivo is now activated.

Mac OS

  1. Download the latest version by accepting the Staff License Agreement or the Student License Agreement and selecting NVivo 10 (for Mac).
  2. Click Download.
  3. Enter your username and password and click OK.
  4. Select Save File (default) and click OK.
  5. Click Downloads in the Dock and select NVivo.11.dmg.zip
  6. Double-click to expand NVivo.11.dmg.zip
  7. Double-click NVivo11.dmg
  8. Drag the NVivo icon to the Applications folder.
  9. Click Go and select Applications.
  10. Double-click NVivo.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Agree.
  13. Enter the NVivo license key from the License Number.txt file from the expanded NVivo.11.dmg.zip
  14. Click Next.
  15. Enter the required information and click Activate.
  16. Click OK.
  17. Enter your name and initials and click Continue.
  18. NVivo is now activated.
