Transact La Trobe
Your La Trobe student card gives you access to a Transact La Trobe account. If you are a first time user you need to register your Transact account. You can then pay for printing by loading credit onto your card at a Transact La Trobe reload station or online using your credit card.
For more information on registering and loading credit, visit the Transact La Trobe webpage.
Café Digital
Café Digital
Café Digital is a self-service print & photocopying facility for La Trobe University students. The Café Digital service includes maintaining various printers and photocopiers at many computer labs across four campuses.
Visit the Café Digital webpage for more information.
Printing in computer laboratories
Printing in computer laboratories
Printing is available in many of the general access computer laboratories at La Trobe campuses. To print in computer labs you will need to register for the Transact La Trobe system and load enough credit on to your account.
Where printers are placed in high usage areas such as libraries, the printing of documents may be controlled by ‘Print Release Stations’ located next to the printer. Once you select print from your computer, you will be required to scan your student card and select your print job before the document is printed. You will not be charged for your printing until you scan your card. In other labs however your document will be printed as soon as you select print, and will debit your account at this time.
All printers in the computer laboratories are supported by Café Digital and faults should be reported to them, quoting the asset number on the printer. Printing issues in one of the campus libraries should be reported to a library staff member. If you are unable to find an Asset Number sticker, contact SITS and we’ll assist you as soon as possible.
For more information on general access computer laboratories, visit the computer labs webpage.

Have you had printers installed on your laptop previously?
Wireless printing has undergone some changes since 2012 and if you previously had your personal Windows laptop set up to print wirelessly, you will be required to do a few things to restore this functionality.
The colour printer drivers supplied by the manufacturer has some issues with being unable to upgrade seamlessly from the version used last year to the new version used this year, thus they’ve supplied us with a package which will fix this issue.
Please note, you will have to download the package and extract the contents to your local hard drive. Then right click the “remove_kxdriver.bat” file and run as administrator. If you know whether your Operating system is 32 bit or 64 bit you can choose the respective ‘RemoveKxDrv(xx).exe’ file, right click it and run as administrator.
Please note: By running this, all your current printers will be uninstalled along with the drivers and you will have to re-install them after. There is no other way around this issue, and this driver removal package needs to be run in order to print wirelessly.

If using Internet Explorer:
- To configure your laptop for wireless printing, simply click on the printer(s) you would like to print to at your campus in the list below. When prompted, select 'Run' - this will start the installation process.
If using another web browser (eg. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome):
- Right-click on the link and select 'Save Link As' and save the file to your Desktop
- Double click on the saved file
When you are installing the printers, you will be prompted for your La Trobe University username and password – make sure you enter students\ before your username eg. students\jbloggs
Tick ‘Remember my password’ to avoid having to repeat this procedure, and click ‘Yes’ if a dialogue box appears.
If you receive an ‘Access Denied’ error, ensure ‘Client for Microsoft Networks’ is ticked in your wireless settings.
