What do I need to connect?

To connect to the Wireless network the following is needed:

  • A Laptop with wireless capabilities.
  • Windows Operating System (XP Service Pack 1 or later) or Mac Operating System (10.3 or later).
  • Knowledge of La Trobe Username and Password.

Do I have to configure my laptop each time I want to use the Service?

No, if the instructions were followed, LTUWireless2 should display in Available Wireless Networks each time the Wireless card is enabled. All you will have to do is select connect.

Who can access the Wireless network?

The Wireless network is available to La Trobe University student and staff members directly by entering your login credentials. Visitors from participating educational and research institutions can access the Wireless network using eduroam.

My inbuilt Wireless Card will not work, how do I enable it?

On some laptops, there may be a physical wireless button located on the side of your laptop. You will need to ensure that it has been turned on.

How do I protect myself from viruses on the Wireless network?

It is recommended that you keep your Anti-Virus software up to date and let it run regularly. Students have access to a free download of Sophos. For more information on being safe on the Internet visit our be secure page.
