Applying

How do I apply to graduate?

Check that your student email account is active and that your postal address is correct. If not, use StudentOnLine or email studentcentre@latrobe.edu.au to update your details.

We will mail you a graduation information pack and Conferring of an Award application form. You can graduate at a ceremony or ‘in absentia’ (not attend).

Do I need to return my application form if I do not want to attend the ceremony?

Yes. Tick the ‘Graduate in absentia’ box. We will mail your testamur or hold for you to collect.

If you don’t return the form you will still graduate but you won’t get your testamur until you contact the graduations office. Email graduations@latrobe.edu.au.

Can I change my graduation ceremony date or time?
Yes, if there is room in the ceremony you want to transfer to. Note this on the application form in section 9 or email graduations@latrobe.edu.au.
I haven’t received my graduation pack, what should I do?
Email graduations@latrobe.edu.au. Include your student ID number, name and current postal address.
I have missed the deadline to return my application form and I want to attend the ceremony, what should I do?
Email graduations@latrobe.edu.au immediately. The graduations office will let you know what options are available.
My name is not printed correctly, what do I do?

Make changes to your name on the application form and attach a copy of documentation such as:

  • passport
  • marriage certificate
  • birth certificate or extract
  • drivers licence
  • change of name certificate.
My majors, qualification or thesis title is incorrect. What should I do?
Contact your faculty administration office (or Research Services if you are a doctoral candidate).
I have received 2 application forms for 2 degrees with different ceremony dates. What can I do?
You can attend 1 ceremony and get both degree certificates or attend both ceremonies. Return both forms clearly advising what you want to do.
I’m about to send my application form, but I’m not sure if it will arrive before the deadline. What should I do?

How will I know if my application form has been received?
Your graduation details will be available to view at StudentOnLine (under My Results and Graduations).
If your attendance mode is at 'ceremony' or 'in absentia' then we have processed your form.
I am an international student going home and can’t attend the ceremony. Can I collect my testamur before I leave?
No. The testamur can only be issued after graduation. We can send it via international courier after the ceremony.

Fees

What does the graduation fee cover?
Hire of academic dress, light refreshments and administrative costs.
When is the fee due?
When you return your application form.
Do I need to pay if I am not going to the ceremony?
No, but you must pay all debts owed to the University before you can graduate.
Do I need to pay the graduation fee if I am deferring my graduation?
No.
I was planning to attend the ceremony and paid the fee. Now I can’t attend. Can I get my money back?
Yes. Email graduations@latrobe.edu.au. Refunds are processed after the ceremony. Cheque refunds can take up to 6 weeks.

Deferring

I’m going to do Honours. Do I need to return the application form?
Yes. Tick the ‘Defer for honours’ box.
How many times can I defer my graduation?
As many times as you like. However, you will not get your degree certificate until you graduate.

Guest tickets

How many guest tickets do I get?
2. You can ask for more but they are not guaranteed. Children that require a seat need a ticket. You (the graduand) do not need a ticket.
How many extra guest tickets can I apply for?
As many as you like, but we can’t guarantee to supply them. To avoid disappointment, please do not request an excessive number of tickets.
Can I buy extra tickets?
No. Tickets are not for sale.
When and how will I receive my guest tickets?
We post them to you 10 days before the ceremony.
I am coming from overseas to attend a graduation ceremony in Australia. How do I get my tickets?
We will email you your ticket and ceremony information. You will need to collect your tickets from the gowning area on the day of the ceremony.
Are seats numbered or reserved?
No. Guests should arrive early to get the best seats.

Parking

Where can I park on the day of my ceremony?

Bundoora: Carpark 3 & 4 is best, otherwise use carparks 1, 2, 2a or 6.

Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga: At the venue.

Mildura, Shepparton: Street parking - check signs.

Is parking free on the day of the ceremony?

Bundoora, Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga: Yes.

I have a disabled guest. Is there somewhere closer to the venue they can be dropped off?
Email graduations@latrobe.edu.au to make arrangements.

Photography

Will there be professional photographers at the ceremony venue?
Yes.
Can I make an appointment with a photographer for the day of the ceremony?
No. Try to arrive early to get your photos before the ceremony.
