Eastbank Centre, 70 Welsford Street, Shepparton. Parking is behind the Centre.

Ceremony timetable

  • Leave handbags and other valuables with your guests during the ceremony
  • Try to arrive earlier to get your photographs before the ceremony
Time Details
12.00 pm

From the gowning area, function room 1, collect your:

  • seat number and name card from the registration table
  • academic dress.
1.30 pm Doors open for guests. They should arrive early because there is no seat allocation.
1.55 pm Go to the marshalling area in function room 1, for a briefing.
2.00 pm Guests must be seated by this time.
2.15 pm

The ceremony begins

  • You enter the hall
  • Academic procession enters the hall
  • All stand for the National Anthem
  • Welcome from the Chancellor
  • Guest speaker gives address
  • Chancellor confers awards
  • Dean presents graduates
  • You:
    • follow the usher’s directions
    • stand and file forward to the stage
    • hand your name card to the usher on stage
  • The Dean:
    • announces your name (and thesis title of doctoral graduates)
    • doffs his or her trencher or bonnet to you.
  • You:
    • doff your trencher or bonnet to the Dean using the right hand (or nod if you are a Diplomate)
    • move on and take your testamur from the Chancellor
    • doff your trencher or bonnet in response to the Chancellor (or nod if you are a Diplomate)
    • leave the stage by the far stairs and return to your seat.
3.00 pm
  • Academic procession leaves the hall
  • You:
    • follow the procession from the hall
    • go to function room 2 for light refreshments.

Return of academic dress

You must return this by 4.30 pm or pay a late fee of $30 per day.

Disabled guests and graduands

The Centre is accessible to people using wheelchairs and walking frames or with problems climbing stairs. Ushers will help you.

Photography

Available at the centre from 12.00 pm to 1.30pm and again after the ceremony.

If you cannot attend

You must contact Student Administration if you cannot attend. You will graduate 'in absentia' or you can postpone your graduation.

To postpone, email or fax the Graduations Office up until the day before the ceremony.  Please include your name, Student ID and course name in the email or fax.
