Applying to graduate

You are eligible to graduate if you:

  • have met credit requirements for your course
  • have a course status of 'passed'
  • owe no money to the University.

 

Graduating at a ceremony in Australia

There are two main rounds of graduation ceremonies:

Autumn: March, April, May
- Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga, Shepparton, Mildura
- for students that have completed their studies during semester 2 and end-of-year.

Spring: October
- Melbourne (Bundoora) campus only
- for students that have completed their studies during semester 1 and mid-year
- eligible students from all regional campuses are invited.

The Graduations Office will send you a graduation information pack and Conferring of an Award application form to you when you are eligible to graduate. We will contact you in January if you complete your course at the end of the year or August if you complete mid year.

Information will be sent to your postal address (in Australia) or emailed to your La Trobe student email account (outside Australia).

It is your responsibility to maintain a current postal address with the University so that you receive information promptly.

All email correspondence will be sent to your La Trobe student email account. Contact Student IT Support  to re-activate your email if required.

You are advised to keep contact details up to date at StudentOnLine or at your local student administration office.

Graduating at a ceremony overseas

A graduation ceremony is normally held in Singapore during Semester 2.
If you want further information about graduating in Singapore please email the Graduations Office 

Graduating 'in absentia' out of session

If you have passed your course and do not want to participate in a graduation ceremony you can request to graduate 'in absentia' and have your testamur (degree certificate) mailed to you. 

Email the Graduations Office with your request (please include your student ID number and mailing address).

The conferral is approved at an Academic Board meeting.
