Program coordinator resources

La Trobe boasts many programs that have been developed by staff members to engage and motivate students.

Programs such as peer mentoring, O-Week hosts, global programs and student events take a great deal of time to manage, and the training and preparation of students is critical to their success.

If you are coordinating a student program, you may wish to include Training Modules offered within the La Trobe Award as part of the induction process, or work with our Trainer to develop specific training. The volunteer hours students put into your program and the Training Modules they complete all go towards the La Trobe Award. The training and recognition may be an added incentive for students to participate in your program.

Requirements to achieve a La Trobe Award as a program coordinator:

  1. Read the Training Modules descriptions to determine whether any are appropriate for your students to complete as a group. Contact the Trainer if you wish to discuss specific, tailored training (allow at least two months for training development, and in some cases costs may need to be covered).
  2. Provide students with the Volunteer Confirmation Letter (181KB) for them to complete
  3. Provide them with the online Registration form for them to complete
  4. Ensure stduents attend training modules you have selected as a group.
  5. Ensure you sign the students' Volunteer Log (DOC 163KB) at the end of the program which students submit.
  6. Ensure students complete the La Trobe Award Exit form form if they wish to exit the program and receive their award.

Note: Depending on your program’s size and breadth these requirements may change.
