Speakers for the 2013 Infinity Leadership Program are still to be confirmed, however below are listed some of the outstanding community and industry leaders who have volunteered their time to participate in this program.
Michael (Mick) Malthouse
La Trobe University's first Vice-Chancellor's Fellow. The renowned former AFL coach has taken up an engagement with La Trobe that will strengthen the University's position as a quality higher-education destination for sports-related study. Throughout his coaching career, Mick has learnt life lessons that transcend the sports field and apply to any person chasing a dream, pursuing their goals or embarking on challenging endeavours.
Hyder Gulam
Originally a registered nurse, Hyder graduated with a law degree from La Trobe University in 1999. As a Reservist Nursing Officer with the Australian Defence Force, Hyder used his legal skills in prosecuting and defending servicemen and women in the military courts, and later as a full time Air Force lawyer. Hyder is one of the founders of the Muslim Legal Network whose aim is to protect the rights of the Muslim community and to exchange ideas. He also serves on the Islamic Council of Victoria and other committees.
Anne Frankenberg
Director of Communications and Fundraising for the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) and works with local partner organisations in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific to empower women and transform their lives and communities. Anne has music and psychology degrees and an executive MBA. She was the General Manager of the Victorian Opera, has served on the Board of the Australian Youth Orchestra and is currently a board member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
Hume Inspector Anthony Ryan
A member of the Victoria Police since 1978 and has been in leadership positions since 1990. Since 2009 he has been the Inspector in Charge of the Hume Municipal area including Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury. Recently he has been the Road Policing Inspector for the NorthWest Metropolitan area, which is largely a strategic leadership position.
Joanna Shaw
Joanna has had a career spanning international relations and development, the not for profit sector, human rights, women’s rights, State and Local Government, and most recently the higher education sector. Since high school she has been a strong advocate of volunteering including two years volunteering in a remote Himalayan village in India with the Dalai Lama’s exiled government, and managing a volunteer program of Australian Volunteers International. Joanna is currently the International Student Services Coordinator at La Trobe University
Dr Cheryl Dissanayake
Dr Dissanayake, Associate Professor/Reader in the School of Psychological Science, is an established researcher with a strong national and international reputation in research on Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is founder and Director of La Trobe University's Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre and also leads the School's Child Development Unit . Dr Dissanayake joined the School of Psychological Science in January 1996. Since then, she has contributed to the teaching of developmental psychology at all year levels.
