Benefits

What's in it for me?

Connect Mentors play a vital role in supporting new students as they make the transition to university. As such, a range of benefits exist for Connect Mentors, including:

  • Formal training
  • Opportunities to develop professional and leadership skills
  • Certificate of Participation and recognition from the university
  • $50 Gift Voucher
  • Eligibility for the La Trobe Award in University Leadership*

In addition to the benefits above, you'll have the opportunity to meet new people and participate in social events and activities throughout the semester. To hear what some of our current and past mentors have to say about the program, visit the Connect Mentor Profiles section.

One of the most popular features of the Connect Mentor Program is the ability for Connect Mentors to use their services in the program towards the attainment of the La Trobe Award.

To be eligible for the La Trobe Award, Connect Mentor's must attend the Connect Mentor Training Program, participate fully in the program up until Week 6, and submit a log book detailing activities undertaken as a Mentor.

In 2013, Connect Mentors will be eligible for the La Trobe Award in University Leadership

Please note: you are not automatically registered in the program. Once you become a Connect Mentor, you will have to sign up to the program separately. Eligibility and requirements for the La Trobe Award are subject to change and may vary.

For more information on the La Trobe Award please visit the website.
