The Management Information Unit is a small team of dedicated staff who are keen to provide a high level of customer service. Please direct your queries to any member of the team. The MIU provides a vast array of statistical data and analyses to support management in the development of University plans and policies. The data covers the major areas of students, staff, research and finance. The Unit also ensures our external obligations are fulfilled by providing data primarily to DEEWR, the ABS and Universities Australia. The MIU primarily uses, as the basis for this information, census collections conducted on behalf of DEEWR - these collections are snapshots of data and therefore provide benchmarks comparable between years and between institutions. A strategic plan has been developed for the Unit. Some of our key strategies emphasize the importance of our staff in terms of training and development, maintenance of strong communication links both within and external to the University, and development of a client service culture. A key focus is the dissemination of accurate, reliable and timely information responsive to our clients needs. Consequently, a major responsibility is the development of the University's data warehouse which represents a central repository of data from which reports can be accessed using the Business Objects reporting tool. Users currently have access to student data and will ultimately have the opportunity to access student, staff, finance and research data from the one source. There is a wealth of information available from MIU. Please contact the team for further information. Our aim is to provide a web site that is easy to use and provides information relevant to the needs of our users in a timely manner. To provide a high quality service, we
welcome your feedback for the continual improvement of our site by
contacting the Unit.
