Brief profile

Suzi completed her Bachelor of Science in 1992 with 1st class Honours in Biochemistry at La Trobe University. She undertook a PhD working on the mechanism of action of anticancer drugs under the supervision of Professor Don Phillips at La Trobe University. After completion of her PhD, Suzi worked for 2 years in the Chromosome Research laboratory of Associate Professor Andy Choo at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. Here, she researched the properties of Human Artificial Chromosomes and transgenic mice defective in essential centromere proteins. Suzi then returned to La Trobe University and was awarded a La Trobe University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 2001. The following year, she was the recipient of a 5 year Discovery grant (in collaboration with Professor Don Phillips) and an Australian Research Fellowship from the Australian Research Council.
