At what age did you start seriously training and competing in your sport(s)?

I started seriously training for Squash at 15.

What (and/or who) got you started in the sport?

My dad Mark got me started in squash when I was about 10. He took my brother and I down to the courts to muck around and we loved it.

Are other family members involved in sport?

Yes, my entire family plays squash. My dad also used to race motorbikes and currently play Royal Tennis

Who has been the biggest influence in your sporting career?

There is a tie for biggest influence on my sporting career between my parents and my coach Vicki Cardwell. They both attend all my events and while Vicki has influenced my career positively on the court, my parents contrast this help by assisting in my mental preparation for squash as well as being a driving force of support. Win or lose.

Who has been the biggest influence in your academic life?

The biggest influence of my academic life was the Director of Senior School, Ms Millard. She helped me to complete my studies to the best of my ability whilst in training, and this support gave me confidence to achieve success in both areas.

Do you support any other sport and/or teams?

I support many other sports including Basketball (NBA), Soccer (EPL) and of course AFL. These are all sports I have played while I was younger so I picked up teams I liked when I played. I support the LA Lakers in NBA, Manchester United in EPL and Hawthorn in the AFL.

How do you relax? Do you have other life interests outside of your sport?

I usually relax by spending time by the pool with my dog or watching comedy shows on TV as they allow me to unwind. I have many interests outside of my sport however, most are very active. I enjoy snowboarding, dirt bike riding, swimming at the beach and I am quite partial to a good book.

What is one thing that might surprise readers to learn about you?

When I was younger I only had one front tooth for about two and a half years after my brother unfortunately kicked me and I fell on a bed posted and knocked out my front tooth.

What is your favourite food? Movie? Music/performer?

Favourite food is definitely Indian food. Favourite movie is a tough one but it has to be the Original Star Wars Triology. Favourite band is tough as well but I'd have to say it's a tie between AC/DC, Queen and Metallica.

Take responsibility for your own actions, only then will you truly be able to learn from your mistakes.
